Abstract

Shaft and propeller is the main function of the implementation of model self-test model self-declaration is a routine work done in BTH - BPPT. Axis serves to move or forward power from transmission to propeller so that the propeller can rotate. The shaft is made of steel pipe or stainless steel (AISI 1020) which has resistance to twist or bending force. Therefore a technical study of the magnitude of torsion and bending stress is necessary for predicting the life of the shaft. To obtain the shaft life is calculated in the propulsion test process where the variable chosen in the propulsion test process is the velocity of the vessel model which is the parameters that influence the force, torque and tension changes. The results of this study indicate that for the model speed of 1.529 m/s obtained the maximum stress 31.75 Mpa / 4.63 Ksi axis operates in normal conditions while the allowable voltage allowable 294,74 Mpa / 42,75 Ksi
